C.A.B.’s favorite Holiday adventure every year is going to see the National Christmas Tree at the Ellipse. The National Christmas Tree is located at15th and E St NW, Washington DC; it will be up till January 1st. This adventure has a special place in my heart as well; my dad would take me here every Christmas to see the National tree. In addition to the National Tree; there are 56 smaller ones representing the “Pathway of Peace” for all the 50 states, five territories and the District of Columbia. There is also Santa’s workshop and a Christmas manger.
C.A.B. has been talking about the National Tree all season and loves it so much because they have trains, trains, and more trains with trucks. We went back last night so he can see the trains, trucks, and emergency vehicles displays. There are about 8 or more mini displays that range from cities, railroad yards, stadiums, and bridges that are on the outside perimeter of the tree behind a fence. There are also two trains that go around the whole perimeter of the fence as well as a CSX and Norfolk Southern trains equipped with flat bed and box cars. Children were throwing coins at the trains trying to land them in the box cars to make a wish. There are also two trains that go around the base of tree. C.A.B. loves trains and was even more surprised when he received his very own model train for Christmas. This is a perfect seasonal Holiday outing for the family or any toy train enthusiast.
