The Adventures of C.A.B. goes to Maryland Day at The University of Maryland College Park. C.A.B. and I went last year and had a ball. This will be an event that we will go to every year. Maryland Day is an exciting opportunity for prospective students to learn more about the University of Maryland. I know C.A.B. has a long way to go before he is ready for college, but it is never too early to start
I was blown away with how many activities they had for children; this year C.A.B was drawn to the educational fun activities in the school of Engineering. He made slime and mixed red and blue food coloring to make it purple. He was so excited. He also built a structure with Legos which they put on a machine with a rock on top to simulate how the structure would hold up in an earthquake. Then it was time to play a little put put on a small course with a M and University of Maryland
colors that they made. They had fire trucks, ambulances, police, military, and service
vehicles were available for the kids to explore. There was so much going on we
didn’t get to see it all!
They also had moon bounces, an extreme moon bounce where you climbed to the top and slid into the moon bounce and everything was free. The lines were short; but we got there early. It was located in its own little area which was perfect for the smaller kids; they were all together. They also had laser tag and you could plan your day on the website, but if you didn’t do that they provided you with a map of the events and a bag for all the info and treats you obtained.
They had a coloring and stamping table where C.A.B. Figured out his next stop. We are off to beat on the drums where they explained that it is not how hard you hit, but try to get a rhythm going. He also explained that if you hit the drum in different spots it may sound different. Then we did a basket toss where he had to spin around three times and try to make a basket sponsored by 4H. They gave him a
bracelet and lollipop for his try.
They had one area totally devoted to food; where momma could get a funnel cake and C.A.B. could get a hot dog. Maryland Day was great and we will be back again next year. I can’t wait and they even had free parking so you are only a few steps away from the action.
