The Adventures of C.A.B. takes a dip in the wading pool ,runs through the water sprays, and explores the boardwalk at Yards Park. Yards Park is located at 355 Water Street SE, Washington DC. All summer I have been promising C.A.B. we would check out Yards park. We got up early on a Sunday morning and was surprised that it was already a nice crowd of people and even a birthday party being set up near the wade pool. The wade pool is very shallow; enough to splash around in perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. There is a waterfall you can walk under and put your hand through. There are water sprays that shoot up from the ground as you go over them or run as C.A.B. did. There were sprinklers running where a few children were running through as their parents watched from the grass.
Next, we explored the boardwalk and walked down to an area that has boat rentals; who knew? Then we walked the other way and along the way there is plenty of seating if you get tired or just want to check out the view of the water and watch the boats and kayaks go by. There is also a little garden that you can sit and enjoy the day as well. We made our way to the other end which is the Navy Yard and checked out the USS Barry DD-933. Then after exploring it was time for a treat there are several restaurants, but C.A.B. wanted a milkshake from PotBelly. There is street parking, but it fills up quickly. We parked in the lot next to Yards Park and it was $ 2 an hour on Sunday. This was a perfect way to spend a relaxing Sunday.
