It’s that time of the year where there are Holiday events and celebrations going on everywhere to enjoy. I have listed a few of C.A.B.’s favorite events  and one that we are going to check out below:

Parade of Lights – Watch decorated boats light up the water at the Wharf in SW DC on December 5th 6 – 8pm. This was the first time we have attended this event and we will be back every year from now on. In addition to the boats; Santa  was there taking pictures for free , decorated cookie trees, there was fake snow falling on the decorated trees setting the scene,  a s’mores fire pit, and a holiday boat making station.

Holiday Festival of Lights – Enjoy driving through a wonderful winter wonderland of light displays from the warmth of your car at Watkins Park in Upper Marlboro. C.A.B. and I normally grab a milk shake and sit back and enjoy all of the displays from the candy canes to Santa on a motorcycle. He spots something new each year. The Festival of Lights is nightly from December 2015 – Sunday, January 3, 2016 5-9:30 pm  5-9:30 pm and costs $5 a car.  It is free on Christmas. This year with the weather so nice; we plan on taking a Hayride through the lights for $5 a person. This option is available Fridays thru Sundays  in December.

ZooLights – The National Zoo is transformed into a Winter Wonderland of Lights that is breath taking. C.A.B. loves the rides; they have a giant slide, train ride, carousel and we end the evening off with hot chocolate. C.A.B. slides down the slide about 4 times; and I normally do it once. It was a blast Last year; GEICO had a photo area that you could take pictures and they would send them to you and they gave you a GEICO flashlight. They also had a petting zoo. Zoo Lights is free, but the rides and food cost.  C.A.B.’s review

National Christmas Tree – The National Christmas tree at the Ellipse is by far one of C.A.B.’s favorite Holiday places to visit. They have a city built around the base with trucks, rescue vehicles, trucks, trains, and etc. There are also trees that represent all of the states. We tend to go see the National Christmas Tree a few times. C.A.B.’s review

Holiday Exhibit at the US Botanic Garden – The US Botanic Garden had three Holiday exhibits last year. C.A.B. loves to go see the model trains in the East Gallery every year and to see what theme they will have. This year’s theme is bees and it is truly amazing. I enjoy the replicas of all the monuments on the National Mall made with plant materials. Let’s not forget the huge tree in the West Gallery with Percy riding around it. They also have live music on Tuesday and Thursdays  throughout the month of December. See C.A.B.’s review

Holiday Trains and Planes – The College Aviation Museum in College Park features an exhibit of Holidays Trains and Planes on Saturdays December 12 and 19th from 10 am -3pm. The exhibit displays miniature trains with villages, tunnels and depots. C.A.B. had a ball he went back and forth from the trains to the interactive displays the museum has. C.A.B.’s review

Water Skiing SantaThis is an event we haven’t been too, but it sounds funa nd different to see Santa waterskiing,  wakeboarding reindeer, and flying elves. This event will be Thursday, December 24th 1pm; Old Town Alexandria; 1 Prince street Alexandria, VA

Yards Park Kids Noon Yards Eve Celebration – The third annual Noon Yards Eve at Yards Park 355 Water Street SE on December 31st from 10 am – 1pm.  Last year there were stilt walkers, clowns performing tricks, multiple moon bounces and slides, a trackless train, and face painting and a balloon drop at noon with a countdown. We had a ball.C.A.B.’s review
