Ding ding! All aboard The Adventures of C.A.B. Takes a ride on the D.C. streetcar enjoying the lovely weather and sights along the way. C.A.B. has been waiting since last year to take a ride on the long awaited street cars along H street corridor since he saw them on the news. I was excited too; I remember riding streetcars in Philadelphia as a child when I would go visit my aunt. The DC street car is a 2.4 mile ride that starts At Union Station and stops at Benning Road and Oklahoma Ave. when you reach the end of the line either way; you have to get out and wait for the street car to turn around. The whole ride is about 20 minutes each way and free for a limited time. They have a person on board answering questions and calling out the stops as we approach them; the person who was on our ride was wonderful. She was also taking count of every person boarding the streetcar with a counter. She gave us the background of streetcars in DC and there was a fellow passenger who remembers taking one of the last rides on a street car in the 60s; his uncle was a streetcar driver.
C.A.B was so excited; we rode back and forth the whole route. C.A.B. Loved the raised platform and seating. He would have ridden for hours if he could. It doesn’t go very fast, but definitely a cool way to navigate H street.
